Most famous as the founder of the socio-spiritual reform organization Arya Samaj, Maharishi Swami Dayanand Saraswati was a Socio-spiritual leader and social reformer of the 19th century. Swami Dayanand wrote and published a number of religious books which went on to become sacred institutions in themselves on the Arya Samaj beliefs.
He spent a lifetime preaching against many Hindu customs and traditions that were meaningless and oppressive, according to him and stressed on the Vedas. In his magnum opus Satyarth Prakash he also targeted the blind faith and obscurantism of other faiths as well.
