Arya Samaj And its Sacred Beliefs

Most famous as the founder of the socio-spiritual reform organization Arya Samaj, Maharishi Swami Dayanand Saraswati was a Socio-spiritual leader and social reformer of the 19th century. Swami Dayanand wrote and published a number of religious books which went on to become sacred institutions in themselves on the Arya Samaj beliefs.

He spent a lifetime preaching against many Hindu customs and traditions that were meaningless and oppressive, according to him and stressed on the Vedas. Idol worship and polytheism, and such social stigma as casteism and untouchability, child marriage and forced widowhood were some customs he strongly opposed and fought against them. In his magnum opus Satyarth Prakash he also targeted the blind faith and obscurantism of other faiths as well.

Today, Arya Samaj is a global organization that teaches the true Vedic religion, which is at the core of Hinduism. Born out of a reform movement within Hinduism the Arya Samaj can best be termed as a socio-cultural organization. It is a non-denominational authentic Vedic spiritual organization dedicated to removing superstition, orthodoxy and social evils from society.

Arya Samaj marriage:

In India, generally, it is the religion or community that determines the type of wedding ceremony that a couple would have. For those who aren’t particular about a special community wedding, but at the same time would like their wedding to be solemnized according to Vedic rites, an Arya Samaj wedding is the right choice. An Arya Samaj wedding can also be incorporated with any other Hindu community wedding. Whether it’s an arranged marriage or a Arya Samaj Marriage in Jaipur, all Arya samaj mandir’s extend their services wholeheartedly without any discrimination.

An Arya Samaj marriage is in accordance with the Arya Marriage Validation Act XIX of 1937. The priests complete the ritual and interpret the meanings of the Vedic chants to the wedding couple so that they are enlightened with the importance of marriage and also about living together for the lifetime.

The Arya Samaj does not believe in idol worship and the wedding ceremony is performed with the fire and other elements as the witnesses. As per the Hindu religion, the fire is considered the sustainer of life. The specialty of an Arya Samaj wedding is that the mantras are also translated into a language that the couple can understand. This adds to the charm of an Arya Samaj wedding.
